OpenAI brings ads to ChatGPT as low-cost tier ‘Go’ lands in Australia

OpenAI is set to start displaying advertisements at the bottom of ChatGPT answers as part of a pilot program, initially affecting free and lower-cost tiers in the US.

The tech giant officially confirmed it will begin testing ads within the large language model’s platform over the “coming weeks”, following months of industry speculation.

However, the pilot will initially affect only ChatGPT’s free tier and the newly released Go tier, which is now available in Australia for A$13 per month and offers more messages, file uploads, and image creation than the free tier.
