Oranges poster released as UK PM Brown apologises

Oranges and SunshineSixteen Films has released a teaser poster for Oranges and Sunshine, coinciding with UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s apology to child migrants, who are at the core of the film’s story.

The film tells the story of Margaret Humphreys, a social worker from Nottingham, who uncovered the organised deportation of children in care from the United Kingdom to Australia.

British Prime Minister Gordon Brown apologised today to the child migrants who were sent to Australia and other parts of the Commonwealth, following a similar initiative from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd on November 17, 2009, when he acknowledged “the particular pain of children shipped to Australia as child migrants”.

The film is a UK/Australian co-production directed by Jim Loach and stars Emily Watson, Hugo Weaving and David Wenham.
