Regular readers of Mumbrella may recall that in November, we were given the news Australia’s oppressed white male audience had been waiting for.
Finally, there was going to be a show for their kind.
Yes, Mark Latham, Rowan Dean and Ross Cameron had been given a Sunday Morning slot on Sky News.

Ahead of the show, Dean certainly did his bit to stoke the outrage fires, dedicating his Saturday column in the Weekend AFR to an alternative take on AFR Boss’s Outstanding 50 LGBTI Executives list from the day before.
Or as Dean – who rides three media horse, editing The Spectator Australia, writing for Fairfax Media’s AFR and appearing on News Corp’s Sky News – charmingly put it in his column, “as queer as a Qantas CEO”.
And sure enough, Outsiders began on Sunday morning, with a Chaser-style, crowbar-wielding visit to Fairfax Media and a “trigger warning” for viewers from Mark Latham.

So it was with some excitement on Monday that Dr Mumbo awaited the no doubt magnificent ratings numbers.
Oddly, there was no mention in the top 20 pay TV shows initially issued by OzTam.
So Dr Mumbo checked the top 100. There was nothing there.
So Dr Mumbo asked a contact who had access to the ratings of the top 250 TV shows of the day. It wasn’t there either.
Dr Mumbo was becoming concerned. Surely there’d been a mistake. There must be a lot of angry white men out there waiting for a show just for them. They couldn’t all be out in the drive washing their Holden Commodores.
So Dr Mumbo contacted Sky News to ask how the show did.
They replied by email:
“The premiere episode of OUTSIDERS on SKY NEWS LIVE saw total audience grow by 79% in that timeslot compared to last four week average. SKY NEWS LIVE ranked within the top three subscription television channels on Sunday morning among adult viewers 18+.”
Which was lovely, but it didn’t actually answer Dr Mumbo’s question about how many people among our 23m population had tuned in.
So he asked another contact, who finally tracked down the numbers for him.
Yes, the show got 22,000 viewers.
Which amounts to just under 0.1% of the population.
Which is clearly great news for whoever came up with the title The Outsiders. Accuracy is very important in these things.
Where is that cry/laughing emoji when you need it??
AT least it’s not costing me money, unlike the rainbow rubbish on the ABC.

But it did rate better than the show it was replacing right? That indicates some ROI success, no?
Has anyone got the ratings for Insiders for the same day?
Maybe there was some type of sport on the telly in the same time slot? Between working at the top of our respective fields (regardless of whether we are the best at it), being paid more than everyone else, watching sport, dirtying then cleaning our diesel guzzling, environment destroying 4WDs, fishing, boozing and oppressing everyone who is different to us I am surprised us white Australian males have time for anything other than supporting Donald Trump and Pauline Hanson?!
I actually watched it. It was great. These three blokes were terrific. I was almost tempted to do a tweet to win a signed autograph by the boys of Donald Trump’s Masterpiece “Art of the Deal”. Please give SkyNews some time to get a following. It was the only episode to screen this year with hardly no advance publicity. The boys will be back next year and audiences need to be awoken first from slumbering through the very dull ABC Insiders program first, before being given a sparkling crowbar-like bashing to the intellect from the very much alive and humourous Outsiders on Sky! I’ll be watching again. Don’t you worry about that!

The metro ratings for Insiders were 224,000. Should point out the pay-TV ratings are done on a national basis, those are just for the five main capital cities.

How much does the existence of the ABC personally cost you, out of interest? assuming you’ve done the numbers. Percentage of annual take home wage is OK.

Well, I for one enjoyed watching the show. Very refreshing to have plain-speak from 3 Aussie blokes. Mock them all you want, but I’m betting their show will just grow and grow in strength. The backlash against the elite who think we need to be told what to think and believe, is drawing to an end. Thank goodness.

Yes, thank goodness the backlash against the nasty elites who don’t toe the angry white identity politics line is drawing to an end. Trump and Brexit were certainly bad enough to be geting on with, thankyou.
I haven’t been impressed in general by Sky News’s programming of late. They seem to have wound back a lot of their actual news gathering, in favour of endless panel discussions and commentary from washed-up politicians.
I guess the old proverb rings true, talk IS cheap.

Sorry, but I can’t recall Aunty’s Insiders being a diverse rainbow of colour. It’s middle aged white men and a token bitter and biased Nikki Sava.
Why are you joining the ‘white male’ bashing? Until the recent mass immigration trend from Asia and India, Australia has been predominantly Caucasian. You know, history and stuff. These hated white men have built and provided and fought for the country we have today.

1000 OUTSIDERS 22,159 (which was more viewers than ABC NEWS 24 in STV homes at 1000)

Angelos’ numbers are the viewers on subscription TV I believe of that show. My numbers are taken from the OzTam Overnight Metro Ratings. The two are measured separately.

That assessment if totally unfair. The entire population of Australia does not have pay TV and neither do their children.
