Paramount Pictures removes controversial Australian 9/11 Ninja Turtles poster from social media
Paramount Pictures has tonight deleted from its Facebook and Twitter accounts its film poster for the opening of movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on September 11 which features its heroes falling from a burning New York skyscraper.
The poster was up for just a few hours but quickly drew social media comment about its apparent insensitivity, particularly as the film opens on the 13th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the US.
There’s no way this is an oversight on Paramount’s behalf, just a good ol’ fashioned publicity stunt. I doubt anyone will be getting fired over this. A massive bonus maybe?
Not an oversight…. I wonder who thought this was a good idea though? There is a line between being crafty with marketing and being completely insensitive.
This looks NOTHING like 9/11 memories. This looks more like a Die Hard ripoff. People are so ridiculous.
A pretty bad move on their behalf. But I’m more offended that we have to wait a month for this movie. What a joke…
If I had lost somebody in 9/11 this poster would definitely bring back unwanted memories. An explosion at the top of a skyscraper and September 11 in the same image – how does that look nothing like the ‘9/11 memories’?
Highly offended!! How dare they place the 11 at the end of September instead of in front like the Australian away
