Photo finish for TV ratings week after AFL delivers Seven strong Thursday night

Boasting rights as the week’s most watched TV channel will go to the final night of the ratings week with Seven and Nine locked on equal prime time audience shares for the week so far of 22.6% each.

Good ratings for Seven’s AFL coverage last night helped the network close the gap on Nine, which got off to a strong start to the ratings week thanks to Married At First Sight.

Last night saw an average of 378,000 Melbourne viewers tune in to Seven to watch the AFL clash between Melbourne and Essendon, making it the city’s most watched program of the night. A further 107,000 tuned in in Adelaide, and 67,000 in Perth.

Meanwhile, Nine’s NRL derby game between Penrith Panthers and Wests Tigers rated 252,000 in Sydney and 133,000 in Brisbane.
