Federal Government pro-FTA deal pitch – creative
The Abbott Government is understood to be tendering among its rostered creative agencies for a new multi-million dollar ad campaign aimed at countering a union ad campaign, being run by the likes of the CFMEU, which claims the proposed China-Australia free trade agreement will cost local jobs.
Selling the Chinese FTA could have been a Gruen challenge..
Agencies should seriously consider not submitting for government business, their terms of trading are appalling, only desperate agencies pitch for this business. The ROI on government campaigns is ridiculously low. I know this will get indignant sycophantic responses claiming income is great, but the reality is the govt department sets total income for campaigns and that’s nonnegotiable. I think it’s about $40,000 a campaign. The bend over boys and girls think this is great revenue.
Is that Michael Clarke-Tokely from Next Stop Hollywood in the CFMEU ad?
Interesting casting choice.
There is a hint of racism in these ads which makes it for me uncomfortable viewing. It should come as no surprise the biggest supporters of the Immigration Restriction Act 1901, ie the “White Australia Policy”, were the unions.
Maybe it was me, but I didnt get the hint – I could guess it, and probably that is it, but for me it stuck to the main message. For me, the message is good.
It shows the apathetic state of Australians in having no clue what has been done politically, so maybe people will start to pay attention (again…). The force to be comfortable at all times is strong in Australians ….
