PR Edge to tackle issues of gender inequality with launch of new ‘Rosie’ division

L to R: PR Edge strategist Julia Loughlin, clinical psychologist Deborah Newburn and PR Edge MD Fee Townshend.
PR Edge is looking to tackle issues of gender inequality in the wider world with the launch of ‘Rosie’, a division dedicated to creating societal change in the way women are treated and depicted.
Fee Townshend, managing director PR Edge, told Mumbrella the agency wants to be part of a societal shift
towards more equality for women.
“We want to be part of societal change, that shift and that understanding,” Townshend said. “Being part of the solution is what drives me.”
Lol, the Westinghouse Poster of Geraldine Hoff… Aka Rosie the Riveter. Flashing the secret sign of clueless tokenistic feminists with no knowledge of history?
Tell me, does this mean they will encourage women to take on manly jobs for a couple of weeks and then quit because it’s tough on her nails and run off to marry a rich dentist and live off him forever?
Expecting advertising agencies to address gender balance is like expecting a real estate agent not to ‘under quote’.
Franky most of them ‘don’t give a sh*t’ to quote a prominent headhunter.
They only want to serve themselves: their fee, salary, KPI or bonus.
We are in a totally self serving industry- this is why ECD are paid for and obsessed by awards and their own success is more important than their clients success
Very sadly this is why agencies need to be held to account to change this.
It will only change if clients demand it.
Lol, SPG… Geraldine’s image, not life story, was possibly used for the Rosie the Riveter poster. Rosie is a fictitious character who has come to stand for more since the mid 1980s when it made a resurgence. SPG – I don’t mind whether a woman runs a company, works in a factory, would rather play the cello or marries a dentist and has six kids. The whole point is she should be able to do what she likes and be treated fairly along the way!
