Prime Video adds Apple TV+ as add-on subscription in Australia
Apple TV+ is now available as an add-on subscription on Prime Video within Australia, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Priced at $12.99 AUD/month for Australians, £8.99/month in the UK, and $12.99 CA$/month in Canada, the subscription allows Prime Video customers in the above mentioned territories to watch a plethora of TV shows and films, including award-winning drama, Morning Wars, and the Adam Scott-led science fiction thriller series, Severance.
The service also supplies viewers with access to Major League Baseball and Soccer events.
“We’re delighted to continue to roll-out Apple TV+ on Prime Video with the launches in the U.K., Canada and Australia, bringing Prime Video customers an even greater selection of TV shows and films, all in one app experience,” commented Prime Video’s vice president of international, Kelly Day.
Head of marketplace Prime Video Australia, New Zealand and Canada, Daniel Slepak, added: “Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming including Amazon MGM Studios Originals, live sports, licensed movies and series, the ability to rent or buy thousands of new and popular movies, and also offers over 22 additional streaming subscriptions in Australia.
“The addition of Apple TV+ and its popular and critically acclaimed shows, films and events will no doubt delight our customers and unlock even more content all with the convenience of one app with one password.”
Eddy Cue, senior vice president of services at Apple, spoke on the new offering, sharing Apple’s goal of waiting to make its streaming service’s content library widely available for consumers.
“Viewers in the U.S. have been loving the ability to subscribe to Apple TV+ on Prime Video and we’re pleased to now launch this offering in the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia,” Cue said.
“We want to make Apple TV+ and its award-winning library of series and films from the world’s greatest storytellers available to as many people as possible.”
Prime customers can subscribe to Apple TV+ without the need for a cable or downloading additional apps.
It’s not the only add-on subscription to hit Prime Video in Australia this year. In late October, anime streaming service Crunchyroll was announced as the 21st add-on subscription to be added to Prime Video’s portfolio.
