Puberty Blues drops as The Blacklist and Inside Story gain
Puberty Blues lost viewers for its second outing of the second season last night as its metro audience dropped to 477,000, while audiences grew for The Blacklist and Inside Story on channels Seven and Nine.
The long-awaited family drama launched on Channel Ten last week fell from 544,000 for its premiere to 477,000, despite having grown a strong following for the first series in 2012. Episode two was 18th in all programs and 12th in Ten’s target demographic of people 25-54.
The Blacklist on Channel Seven won the timeslot with 904,000 from 8.45pm, a slight increase on last week’s 869,000, according to OzTam’s preliminary overnight ratings.
Inside Story, the new real-life investigation show on Channel Nine, saw its audience jump to 855,000, up from 700,000 last week for its episode about lethal lovers on from 8.45pm and 9.45pm.
Shame really, as last night’s ep was fantastic.
People have just switched off Ten altogether, so perhaps they’re missing the promos prompting them to watch it?
Yes, doesn’t deserve such low ratings.
By far one of the best shows on telly for a long time.
Am loving the second season so far – one of those rare shows that you can become fully immersed in.
A lot darker than Season 1 but just as good.
Brenna Harding is absolutely luminous and exceptional as the rebellious Sue Knight.
Watched Puberty Blues last night and it was well written, directed and performed. However the issue with it which is yet again a question of judgement by Ten’s management is that it plays far too young for a prime time slot. Its problem is reminiscent of another Ten show commissioned 15 plus years ago, Heartbreak High, a great and intelligent show but wrong network. It found its true place on the ABC and ran for many more episodes. I’m afraid this is the only solution for Puberty Blues. While you should never underestimate the intelligence of your viewers I think in Ten’s case the opposite may have some credence.
I tend to agree, TEN can’t seem catch a break at the moment, they’ll have to do a lot more to drive the overall audience back. I watched So You Think You Can Dance the other day and I thought it was quite good. Normal people performing extraordinary dance moves.. Doesn’t make sense that it’s rating so low, it should be able to compete with MKR
Ten should move the dance show to 6.30pm Saturday night…. where Hey Hey thrived with younger audiences getting ready to go out and party …
Jack D…………..
According to Ten last week Puberty Blues had 858,000 video views online and 80,000 time shifting viewers. Perhaps it has found an audience, they just are not watching it on TV.
Best show on FTA at the moment.
