Radio stars beat TV rivals in BRW rich list
Radio personalities have surged ahead of their TV counterparts in this year’s BRW Top 50 Entertainers list, with Alan Jones, Ray Hadley and Kyle Sandilands & Jackie O among the heavy hitters.
Breakfast presenter for 2GB, Jones is number 20 on the list with annual earnings of $5m, while 2Day FM’s Sandilands & Jackie O earned $2.3m.
Hadley, also from 2GB, earned $2m, while 2Day FM’s Hamish & Andy came in with earnings of $1.9m.
Higher on the list, in 24th position, was Eddie McGuire who in September returned to radio to host the breakfast show on Triple M, with earnings of $4m; while similarly TV and radio personality Rove McManus was 25th on list with earnings of $4m.
Overall however, the top five was led by rock band AC/DC with $105m, thanks to the success of their album Black Ice and subsequent 17-month world tour.
The band beat The Wiggles ($45m) who were pushed to third position after holding the top spot for four years running.
Meanwhile, Kylie Minogue came in second ($47m), Russell Crowe was fourth ($25m), while Keith Urban came in fifth ($20m).
Where is Rove on radio? Hasn’t he been off since the ill-fate Rove Live Radio on the Today network??

Where are so called “Ross and John” – on the list ?
They have the highest share of any breakfast session in metro areas throughout Australia – and 3AW would be lost without them.
They should be top of the Radio earning list – but maybe they are taken advantage of as 3AW thinks they could not or would not leave them.
