SBS returns to cinema in film distribution deal with Madman Entertainment

SBS has entered into a co-distribution venture with Madman Entertainment to acquire six films to distribute across Australia and New Zealand over the next two years.

The deal marks a return to film distribution for the broadcaster, which distributed movies through SBS International in the 1990s and will secure both cinema and television broadcast rights for SBS.

The first film to be released via the partnership will be Danish crime-thriller The Keeper of Lost Causes, to be released in Australia and New Zealand in July. Based on Jussi Alder-Olsen’s Department Q bestsellers, the film has grossed $8m at the Danish box office to date, according to SBS.
