Significant seven: best print ads
Over the next few days, we are publishing highlights from this year’s Mumbrella Annual.
1. Royal Australian Navy, Human frigate
The importance of teamwork in the navy is depicted in the shape of a battle cruiser made from hundreds of recruits. The execution also shows that the navy is not just about ships, sheet metal and rivets – it’s about people. The ad won best corporate and government service at the Caxtons.
Agency: GPY&R Melbourne
2. Multiple Sclerosis, Jenga people
Likening the effects of MS to a game of jenga showed the fragility of people suffering from the disease. It was surprising to see this only pick up a bronze at Cannes.
Agency: Colenso BBDO Auckland
These best offs are great. I like the moths.
It’s made me realise though how little advertising I am exposed to, because I haven’t seen any of the ads (including videos), and I’m a huge media consumer.
A combination of ad filtering technologies such as adblockplus and lack of desire to watch commercial TV (bittorrent is the best service in Australia atm), has almost completely air-brushed advertising out of my life.
Strange that I’m so addicted to mumbrella (and gruen), maybe I’m filling some sort of gap. o.0
nearly all are brilliant, wish i’d actually seen them
Agree Az. That’s why PR is important! We get you when inbetween the commercial breaks!
Oops. Bad English. Sorry.
