Simon Williams becomes national MD of Carat
Simon Williams has been promoted to the role of Carat national managing director, following last month’s departure of CEO Paul Brooks.
Williams assumes the new role effective immediately and will take responsibility for Carat across Australia and New Zealand, while Brooks’ CEO role will not be directly replaced.
Seriously? This is a big ask for someone who has never managed anyone before. Managing a complex business of 400 is very different to building a few bits of product. I guess DAN is in an enforced space of shuffling the existing bods rather than bringing in new people.
DAN needs some new people, can’t remember the last time DAN in Australia rolled out any product even remotely useful.
Seems like a hail mary
Well deserved promotion for Simon! Congrats
Is that you Simon?
The downward sprial (read: dropping like a dead weight) of Carat continues… Sinfield must be laughing in his silicon valley-funded mansion now!
Hhmmm,
(This is the real “Hhmmm” btw)
My God these comments are a long way from the comments that would have come – say 10 years ago – when media agencies were relevant. Would have been “great Simon”, “Well deserved”, “Great Hire” and all of the sales representative initiated garbage to crawl up to a senior media executive.
I think all the sales reps are now over at the Facebook, Google, Amazon offices!
So Paul Brooks ‘resigned’ immediately and isn’t being ‘directly replaced’ instead this fellow is being promoted into the CEO-lite role of National MD.
Perhaps that does make sense since it seems all the clients they value are being moved into separated shells. Must be a great feeling to work there, getting herded around under shifting management, dumped into the trading octopus or being plain left behind.
The spreadsheet cost-cutters, employment lawyers and a flat out HR team must be running this particular asylum.
great anonymous posting going on here. Above all else its safe to say that Carat still has the best brands in the business and that’s a fact.
