Sling & Stone hires We Communications’ Nichole Provatas as MD

Sling & Stone has hired former We Communications executive Nichole Provatas to be managing director for Australia.

Her appointment comes over a year after Sling & Stone founder and CEO Vuki Vujasinovic stepped away from the agency, paving the way for its global head of business James Hutchinson to take over leadership.

In a press release, the agency described Provatas as Sling & Stone’s first-ever managing director in the Australian market, although Vujasinovic previously held the title of MD before later transitioning to CEO.

“Communications is being rewritten in real time, and the front door to brands has changed,” Provatas said in the press release.

“My focus is to combine sharp insight, brave creativity and emerging technology to deliver work that travels across channels and delivers real impact. The winners won’t be the loudest brands; they’ll be the most credible, useful and creatively distinctive.”

Provatas previously spent the last eight years at We Communications.

She first joined the agency in 2017 as group head of creative studio, digital and strategy, and most recently served as international head of integrated marketing across its APAC footprint, spanning Australia, Singapore, India and China.

Writing about her departure from We Communications on Linkedin, Provatas said: “What I’m most proud of isn’t a single role but the through-line: building things that didn’t exist before, always backing people to help teams grow, and pushing the agency to evolve with the industry.

“We [Communications] backed me to take risks, move countries, build new capabilities, and step into leadership roles that stretched me and I’ll always be grateful for that trust.”

In her new role at Sling & Stone, which is effective immediately, Provatas will oversee the Australian operations and focus on “deepening” service offerings across AI visibility, strategic insights, social, creative and content, the agency said.

Hutchinson, meanwhile, called the hire a “new chapter” for Sling & Stone, adding: “[Provatas] brings an incredible track record, an instinct for creativity and strategy, and a global perspective on the future of communications. [She] will help us deliver deeper strategy, greater creativity and impactful communications for our clients.”
