Sport on BINGE kicks off tomorrow with AFLW and WBBL double header

Foxtel is officially welcoming sport to its streaming platform BINGE from Saturday, kicking off with back-to-back grand final games for the AFLW and WBBL over the weekend.
On Saturday night, all the action of the AFLW grand final between North Melbourne and Brisbane, including the pre-game show with Aussie band Lime Cordiale, will be available to watch on the platform, before the WBBL grand final – also between Melbourne and Brisbane teams – on Sunday afternoon.
Announced at its Upfront last month, the launch weekend will be followed by Men’s Big Bash League and Super Netball across the summer, and the NRL and AFL leagues on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays during the regular season.
“It’s been an exciting week for BINGE from launching more live news channels and premiering our first original feature film How to Make Gravy to streaming a massive grand final weekend of women’s sport – it’s all happening on BINGE,” said the CEO of Foxtel’s streaming and advertising division, Julian Ogrin.
“We’ve supercharged BINGE to deliver unmatched variety and value to our customers.”
Plus, the streamer has unveiled its Black Friday deal – $4.99 for 12 months – offering subscribers even more value.
“BINGE has all the best shows and movies and the fact that it’s now making sport available as part of the subscription is just brilliant,” said Ellie O’Dowd, AFLW player at GWS.
“To have sport on BINGE launch with women’s sport, and AFLW in particular, is a milestone moment. It’s so exciting that BINGE is opening the sport up to millions of Australians to get behind us.”
Last week, the streaming service launched a campaign featuring AFL and NRL stars Bailey Smith and Jerome Luai to raise awareness of the addition of sport.
Developed by BALBOA, Foxtel’s revamped in-house agency, the campaign – ‘It All Happens Here’ – aims to showcase that BINGE subscribers really can watch anything on the platform for no additional cost.
“Bailey and Jarome are instantly recognisable – even if you’re not a sports fanatic you know who they are – and the perfect jumping off point to promote the variety of content available on BINGE while staying true to the brand’s personality,” Guy Sawrey-Cookson, ECD at BALBOA, said last Monday.
Alongside sport, BINGE is also adding live feeds of Sky News, Sky News UK, CNBC, and Fox Sports News to its existing lineup of channels, as well as a 24/7 dedicated Lifestyle channel. In addition, it also recently added live music channels including MTV Hits, Club MTV, MTV 80’s, CMT, and Nick Music.
