Stan sends out free advanced passes but users quick to point out glitches
Nine Entertainment Co and Fairfax Media’s video streaming service Stan has sent out advanced access passes to people who had registered an interest with the site this afternoon asking for feedback before its full launch.
Users are already pointing out glitches with the service which include not being supported to play on Google Chrome for Macs and very slow loading times on Safari on those machines.
No official launch date has yet been announced for the service, although its flagship show Better Call Saul is set to debut in the US on February 8, with many suggesting it will go live then.
The invitation has sent out a day after rival service Presto, a collaboration between Foxtel and Seven West Media, went live with new TV content in what promises to be one of the most competitive media battles this year.
To be fair to Stan, the security certificate message *may* be related to my usage of a DNS tunneller. Or it may not be…
What does Stan stan for??????????
I got the invite too and played with it. The SSL certificate is missing Organisation Unit. But this is not a high problem… Firefox will tell you this also.
The way Stan orders the video is also sometimes a bit weird. The quality of the content is also not great (but a start).
Would I pay $10 for old videos which I have seen before, no is the answer.
And then the fact you have to install a silverlight plug in to play the video is not very userfriendly.
Haven’t tried it out on the iPad yet.
Seven Ten And Nine?
Why rush to get your product out instead of getting it right now. No Chrome, No Apple TV app (surely even if its a sneek peek the launch isnt far away) and it was so hard to get the sign up window to come up. Quickflix v2 is here apparently.
Just the words “Silverlight plug-in” has made me pull the plug.
Netflix runs on silverlight too and runs fantastically
