Ten tops Nine for audience share as Masterchef and Offspring surge on lacklustre night
Channel Ten beat Channel Nine for audience share in spite of a drop off for new gameshow Family Feud, with Masterchef and Offspring leading the charge last night in the absence of any blockbuster programming from its rivals.
Ten’s reality cooking show came in second for the night with an audience of 1.21m after pulling in 971,000 last Wednesday, and Offspring recorded an audience of 981,000 up from 741,000 according to the OzTam Overnight Ratings.
Meanwhile Ten’s new game show Family Feud, which is being shown across Ten, Eleven and One as a simulcast, recorded a drop off on previous nights with the show posting an audience 657,000, down from 719,000 on Tuesday and 690,000 on Monday.
The decline in audience for Family Feud did not impact Ten’s audience share which was 18.2 per cent on its main channel, well up on last week’s performance of 13.9 per cent when it had to face-off against the dominating State of Origin on Nine. Nine managed 16.2 per cent overall.
I am addicted to Masterchef at the moment. Every Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night I am glued to Ten.
It has been brilliantly casted and the competition has been compelling.
Is there a group I can join that could help me with withdrawals when Masterchef finishes?
Would it be possible to have a reality TV show based on the lives of people who haven’t been in a reality TV show? My fear is that between Idol, X Factor, Australia’s Got Talent, The Voice, Biggest Loser, The Block, House Rules, MKR, Beauty and the Geek, Selling Houses Australia, Masterchef, Australia’s Next Top Model, The Recruit, Big Brother and The Farmer Wants a Wife I’m not sure there will be enough people left to cast as everyone will have been in something.
Yes Nick, its called #Getalife
Just kidding – we watch religiously also
Yeah great news for Ten! Just hope they can use the strong numbers for Masterchef to promo and continue to get viewers to their format after the finale and Commonwealth Games. Post July will be telling for Ten’s fortunes …
Comparing breakfast ratings with last Wednesday is erroneous because because the World Cup semi final was being shown on SBS and attracted more viewers than both commercial breakfast shows. That said, the fact that Today scored even less viewers yesterday should be a worry for them.
