Target launches the festive season asking ‘who makes Christmas special?’
‘Who makes Christmas special?’ asks Target in their campaign kicking off the 2017 festive season.
The ad features people cooking, de-tangling fairy lights, writing Christmas cards, wrapping presents, picking out Christmas costumes and putting up tinsel.
The spot shows different families preparing for Christmas and the holiday period by using Target products.
Target’s spot is the first Christmas television ad to come from major retail stores across Australia.
AJF Partnership is Target’s creative agency of record after being appointed to the account in 2014.
Last year, Target moved its media buying to OMD from incumbent agency UM.

I’ve now seen this ad 3 times and loathe it. I quite liked the song first time but it’s already worn thin.

What a terrible ad. I either mute the TV or change channels. Nothing at all to do with Christmas. Just people singing/talking some hideous song. Where is the Christmas Carol? How much longer do we have to put up with such rubbish? Not until right on Christmas I hope!!! I’ll smash my TV before then.

Hi there its actually Bob Dylan from an album of Christmas songs he did around 2009, it’s a cover of an older song, Bob did it as a polka. you can check Wikipedia. ‘Must Be Santa (song)’ hope this helps
I hate the music jingle to this ad so much it makes me want to avoid shopping at Target. I will mute or change channels if it comes onto my TV – it’s so frantic – big mistake Target!

Tina, I for one do not work for any advertising company so I don’t love the song for that reason. I just love it because it’s a catchy tune and so different to all the other Christmas songs that can become boring eg All I want for Christmas is you!!

Targets christmas add is one of the best I’ve heart it’s catchy and it’s fun to try and sing along to….the lyrics should be released. Love it live it?

Oh, I LOVE it!!! The total joy of it cuts right across the grumpy “have to do” list persona and I find myself humming and wishing I was brave enough to do a solo flash mob in my Target store and, yes, I am old enough to remember Bob Dylan as a pup!!!
