Ten ‘extremely disappointed’ with Nielsen after ‘telco issues’ delay Biggest Loser finale numbers
Network Ten has taken aim at Nielsen after “telecommunications issues” forced a 24 hour delay in the release of the Oztam TV ratings figures, including the finale of The Biggest Loser.
It is understood the problems were focussed on Perth where Oztam and its research provider Nielsen was unable to collect data of some panel homes, with the company apologising and saying it will take a day for the issue to be rectified.
“We are extremely disappointed with the technical problems Nielsen experienced and have asked OzTam to fully investigate,” said a Ten spokesman.
C’mon Princesses … harden up.
It’s only TV ratings. We’re not saving people’s lives here. And anyway didn’t the TV ratings year end a couple of weeks ago?
The story reads like Ten think that Nielsen deliberately delayed the ratings because it was the finale of TBL.
We’ve had overnight TV ratings for almost a quarter of a century. That is more than 9,100 days that TV ratings have been released the following morning.
So I ask, how many times can YOU remember that there were no TV ratings the following day. Bugger all.
You know what Ten. Sometimes shit happens and the telephone lines and mobile networks fail. This was one of those times. You get no ratings as they would be based on partial data.
So suck it up.
And as you do, pay a thought to the people that live in Perth that were inconvenienced I’d guess way more than your PR department was.
