The Gold Coast – where tasteful advertising goes to die
Regular readers may recall the classy Gold Coast real estate agents who decided that tacky was the way to go with their advertising.
Slightly depressingly, they’re at it again. Even more depressingly, this has had more than 400,000 views in the last fortnight or so.
So the add worked and has had a huge number viewing it…. You’ll just have to get over it.
But seriously, if you knew Sovereign Island you’d probably agree that the ad’s Zeitgeist is actually spot on…. heaps of black 4wd Porsches, very black sun glasses, shaved heads, long legged blonds and fat guys in black T-shirts…..
And even more seriously isn’t it time we were freed up to have a bit of a laugh…
I’m hitting the replay button… bye.
Surprised the two blokes don’t have rat tails. Might have to follow Sparty and hit the replay button just to make sure!
Very GC (the antithesis of PC, by the way)
Well it is the Gold Coast… What more needs to be said?
Just another piece of internet crap proving real estate dudes with heaps of cash can’t do style.
Sorry – but 399 896 of those hots were from me.
I love this… Real Estate Agent’s are basically pimps anyway.
These guys are totally taking the piss and having a great time doing it. They know their market, I bet they’re getting loads of inspection requests. Maybe even selling a house.
At least it clarifies why I’d never live there. Or even consider investment property there, if people who think this speaks to them want to rent there.
Laugh or cringe?
So bad it’s good! Long live this series of tacky goodness.
Yep…………replay
As much as I hate to say it, it’s genius… of course it’s totally outrageous and is not just in bad taste but is also hideously sexist, yet it’s also kinda funny and gets across all the features of the house (though given it runs at 1min 50sec, one would certainly hope so). I, for one, couldn’t look away… now hand me the eyeball bleach, Jeeves.
Gold Gold Gold Coast!
Crushed under a mountain of worthy ads that take themselves way too seriously, this one made me smile.
It’s bad enough to be good – maybe even great.
Maybe not, but at least it elicited a smile, rather than a groan at yet another worthy fucking ad.
Thanks fellas.
Tasteful it aint, but I agree with Sparty
Will they be eligible for AFA Effectiveness Awards?
Tacky & sexist they may be, but I reckon they’d be hitting the target audience perfectly and they’ll probably sell every property pretty quickly.
I hope they fix the window that the swat team smashed before they sell it.
This is one of my favourite ads of all time
I love it. I feel like they could have squeezed in jelly wresting in the spa and body shots on the bar, but otherwise it was solid Gold Coast gold.
You don’t have to like the rules, just know them and play by them!
Very clever advertising, whether you like it or not:
* we are talking about it,
* it is getting views
* it is getting comments
* people are blogging about it……
And I can tell you the name of the real estate agents and the property name after one viewing. Pretty effective d in my book.
Do I like the ad? Would it make me buy the property? Nah – just not my taste. Taste doesn’t come in to it, exposure does….
Sex sells.
Everyone knows it.
So two gold coast agents have cut to the chase and now everyone is choking on their camomile tea?
In a way, these guys are more honest than the people recoiling in horror.
Great entertainment – some would say that is the problem.
Limited relevance as not many could afford the house but I’m sure those that could would have been both entertained re content & delivery and curious about the property at the same time.
I like it!
inspection by appointment only..just leave your keys in the bowl 😛
Oh, come on – this isn’t the end of the world – it’s a great advertisement. I mean how long have we known that ‘sex sells’ ?
Two problems tho’
1) the ‘Here’s one I prepared earlier” comment – I don’t think advertising should condone tying up people
2) the reference to the ‘girl on girl’ action as appealing to a broad audience – probably inappropriate.
Otherwise, full marks.
at least they added a story this time. I think this is quite smart on their behalf and I’ll agree it fits with the Gold Coast lifestyle I remember as a kid.
They should do a buff male version
