The Gruen job description
It’s attention to detail that make a difference, which is why Dr Mumbo has enjoyed the ever-changing job title of producer Jon Casimir in the credits for The Gruen Transfer.
So far on the ABC show he’s been:
- Brand Strategist
- Account Director
- Bumvertiser
- Media Planner
- Hamburger Stylist
- Buzz Agent
- Account Manager
- Roacher
- ECD
- Endorphin Brander
- Copywriter
- Founding Partner
- Pinkwasher
- Social Media Strategist
- Experiential Marketer
And this Wednesday night’s episode will see him as Greenwasher, followed by Nappy Wrangler and Pitvertiser.
Bumvertiser refers to the guy in Seattle who branded homeless people. Nappy wrangler refers to the shooting of a nappy ad which had a full time person looking after just the nappies. Pitvertiser refers to Right Guard’s campaign earlier this year, when the brand sent teams of people onto the London Tube in peak hour with ad-playing video screens sewn into their armpits. Casimir tells Dr Mumbo:
“Why do they change? Because I love the way advertising/marketing invents new titles all the time. This week you’re an experiential marketer, last week you worked in events. And ‘Producer’ seems like such a lame word. Poor old Mel Brooks would have been much more successful if he’d written a musical called ‘The Executive Creative Directors’. I’d certainly be happy to entertain any and all suggestions if there’s a third series…”
I think they need to introduce more buzzwords into the program to match these changing titles. 360-degree planning, platform-neutral, blue-skies….possibly upload a BINGO sheet prior to the weekly episode on Gruen Transfer website for viewers to check off as the program goes on.
