Former director of editorial policies at the ABC Paul Chadwick has been appointed to the new position of global readers’ editor for The Guardian, overseeing complaints about the publication.
The position is important as The Guardian is not part of any complaints bodies in the three countries it operates in, the UK, Australia and the US, instead operating its own internal system reporting to owners The Scott Trust.
Dame Liz Forgan, chair of the Scott Trust said: “Paul is a hugely experienced journalist with an excellent legal pedigree, therefore I am confident that he will ensure that the Guardian’s high standards of fairness and transparency are adhered to across the world.”
