THE ICONIC says internal systems were not breached after customer accounts hacked

The Iconic has appointed Adhesive to its PR account
THE ICONIC has issued a new statement days after customer accounts were hacked, saying its internal systems were not breached.
On Tuesday, the online fashion and sports retailer confirmed that it has experienced “an increase in fraudulent account login attempts” and announced it would be cancel any fraudulent orders made and refunded impacted customers.
In a new statement shared online on Wednesday evening, THE ICONIC gave an explanation for the hacks.
“We know you’re frustrated. You have every right to be,” the statement read.
“We are aware that there has been unauthorised access to a number of customer accounts, although this is not as a result of a breach of any of THE ICONIC’s internal systems.
“These unauthorised third party login attempts used a technique known as ‘credential stuffing’ where the unauthorised third party used login credentials sourced through data breaches that are unrelated to THE ICONIC.”
THE ICONIC added that there is an “ongoing investigation into the matter.
The latest statement comes after THE ICONIC sent emails to customers earlier this week encouraging them to “strengthen” their accounts by regularly changing their passwords and to make contact with the company if they have experience any “unusual activity”.
