The campest billboard installation ever?
Sydney’s Oxford Street played host to possibly the most flamboyant installation of a new outdoor ad of all time, as a billboard for Universal Pictures’ new Sacha Baron Cohen movie Bruno was erected on the APN Outdoor site overlooking Taylor Square.
This morning’s stunt – featuring four workmen in pink hardhats and hotpants – was a PR triumph for public relations agency Public City and the PR team at Universal Pictures with Seven, Nine, Ten and Nova 96.9 all present.
Sacha Baron Cohen is a PR Genius.
Sacha Baron Cohen is the new Branson of PR stunts… and then some.
Wondering what we might be able to turn this billboard campaign into…

You call that brilliant? How low can you go? Self serving ad people. What a joke.
Those blokes should be killed for wearing those pink shorts – at least bruno is waxed. It’s a little bit of fun – a good PR extension to an outdoor campaign. Don’t imagine it would have cost much to turn this from a standard installation to a stunt. What did they add? Coloured shorts and a bit of bump & grind?
Tim blogged about it, you read about it – then watched it, then took the time to comment on it.
It affected you enough to comment on it, therefore it was effective, no?
In parting, I wasn’t specifically focusing on this exact campaign, rather Cohen in general. Ali G, Borat, now this. The amount of free publicity he gathers each time is staggering.
Thats the best they could come up with…….?
Anyone else putting up a billboard in pink shorts etc – maybe “interesting”
The “Bruno” snowball – then that’s mainstream news!
What do the punters think?
Take a bit of effort to entertain us and we’re engaged, we comment, we share, we blog, we spread the influence.
