Tom Merkli moves to Yahoo!7

Online marketer Tom Merkli has joined Yahoo!7 from Yahoo!’s Europe office.   

The announcement:

Yahoo! online targeting expert, Tom Merkli, will now be based out of Australia as Senior Regional Manager for Advertising and Publisher Solutions across APAC. Based in Yahoo!7’s Melbourne office, Tom is charged with delivering advanced online advertising solutions to clients for example via the introduction of the award winning targeting technology, Yahoo! Consumer Connect.

Swiss born, Tom joined Yahoo! Europe in 2007 where he introduced and grew Behavioral Targeting in five European countries to substantial revenue drivers while working with the local in-country teams to further promote additional targeting products like Geo and Demo targeting. He then led the development of Yahoo! Consumer Connect in the UK with which he won Media Innovation of the Year award at the 2010 Valencia Festival of Media.

Explaining how Yahoo! Consumer Connect works, Tom said, “Yahoo! Consumer Connect is an innovative ‘banner to barcode’ solution which allows advertisers to select an online audience based on their offline purchasing behavior. It is an innovative proposition for the Australian online advertising industry and I am looking forward to working with the team at Yahoo!7 to roll it out across the country.”

Tom previously worked for eBay, McCann-Erickson and Euro RSCG. He has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management in Sydney.

Tom will be based in Yahoo!7 Melbourne office, commencing in May 2010.
