Amelia Oberhardt, Tonic Communications
Tonic Communications has expanded its operations into Brisbane by hiring Amelia Oberhardt as media and communications director.
This move is part of the agency’s ongoing growth since its launch in 2024.
The announcement:
Signifying a further expansion of its Australian footprint, leading trans-Tasman agency Tonic Communications has hired seasoned industry professional Amelia Oberhardt as Media and Communications Director.
Starting immediately and based in Brisbane, Oberhardt will work across Tonic’s expanding client roster, including recently secured Queensland-based accounts. Tonic currently operates out of Sydney and Auckland, with Oberhardt’s appointment and established Brisbane presence further strengthening its footprint across ANZ.
Oberhardt joins Tonic from Subway, where she was most recently Public Relations & Corporate Social Responsibility Manager AU and NZ, and brings more than two decades of experience across radio, television, podcasting, public relations and event management to the newly-created role.
Tonic Communications Managing Director Georgia Coleman said Oberhardt’s appointment marks an exciting step in the agency’s continued expansion across Australia.
“Amelia’s someone I’ve known and respected for a long time. She’s sharp, connected, and just gets what it takes to cut through in a meaningful way,” Coleman said.
“With so much content being created, and AI only accelerating that, the real value now is knowing what’s worth saying, and how to make it land. That’s exactly what Amelia brings.”
Oberhardt said she was excited to be joining Tonic at a time of growth for the business.
“What stood out to me about Tonic is the way the team approaches earned PR – it’s thoughtful, considered, and focused on what will actually make an impact. I’m looking forward to building on that and continuing to grow the agency’s presence here in Queensland,” Oberhardt said.
Since launching in 2024 with Coleman at the helm, Tonic has seen strong, year-on-year growth across both Australian and NZ markets.
