Tony Iffland to lead SBS TV and online content
SBS has appointed BBC Worldwide’s Tony Iffland as its director of TV and online content six months after the departure of Matt Campbell to production house Shine.
Iffland, who will start in April, is currently GM of BBC Worldwide’s Australian operation.
His remit leading SBS’s content strategy includes the network’s sporting acquisitions. Key sports content currently includes Tour de France, the soccer World Cup and the Euro 2012 football tournament.
Iffland’s move marks the end of 30 years working for the BBC. His first role was as Australia and New Zealand sales manager for BBC Enterprises in 1982. He later went on to senior roles at the BBC joint venture UK Gold, leading BBC co-productions in Australia and spent 12 years as CEO of UKTV.
