Triple M celebrates ‘everything man’
Triple M will this weekend launch a new advertising campaign in Sydney promoting the breakfast Grill Team’s blokey appeal.
The TV ads – led by Triple M’s own creative team rather than an ad agency – aim to encompass ‘everything man’.
The Grill Team features Mark Geyer and Gus Worland.
Nikki Clarkson, Austereo’s head of marketing and communications, said, “We are thrilled with this new campaign for The Grill Team. It builds on the male skew activity we developed for Triple M with Slash last year, and targets The Grill Team as ‘the’ Sydney show for men 25 – 54 years of age.”
Triple M Content Director Jamie Angel said, “These ads are a bit of fun and reinforce what The Grill Team is all about – blokes that love life, sport, hanging out with mates and rock. The idea of ‘everything man’ reflects the show positioning which is not only for men but also women who want an insight into a man’s world.”

You should have got an Ad Agency!
A fraction of the cost, a fraction of the impact!
Were Andy Gray and Richard Keys the copywriters on this?
I think I’ve just seen every possible cliche in one ad! That’s an achievement
“We show you who you are and then you have to listen to us”. Brilliant.
Slightly reminiscent of Old Spice Guy but without the class or style or hunk.
@2thePoint,
Actually, I didn’t think it was too bad. Well, the idea anyway. Execution could have been a little better…
…it’s just too long-winded!
sidey looks good!!
@2thepoint – you obviously either work for an agency or don’t watch television.
The once mighty Triple M resorts to attracing males who act like stereotypes.
Bogan sampling of the station up 78% year on year.
At least the logo has a bit more oomph with Dr Dan’s return.
As a forty something, overweight, self employed “westie”, these ads have appeal. However, “The Grill Team” does not. One of the worst breakfast shows in the country!
For the target market I thought it was ok. At least Triple M now seems to know who it is and not just Today in disguise.
Don’t go showing this to equal opportunity people. They’ll have an absolute field day with this…
Isn’t this an extension of the Patts “morning show” campaign. Why didn’t Patts do it?
Maybe MMM need to move its playlist and, it would appear, its advertisements out from 1983! Where’s Uncle Doug when you need him??? Some more INXS’ ‘Kick’ anyone?
They’re pretty funny and no doubt the audience will love them. Nice one.
I can’t believe the Barry Knight Indoor Cricket Team didn’t get a mention Gus!
Sour grapes Agency land. These ads are awesome! You just don’t like em cos you didn’t get to charge a shitload on production for it.
“Well, that’s the campaign sorted. Now, any suggestions what we should do about the actual radio station?”
Trevor – that just about sums it up!!
The ads will increase the cume audience but how long can people listen to the same old playlist and unfunny comedians who “fake” laugh at everything?
Who is that third guy?
What an utter load of crap!!!! That’s the problem with advertising like this. They try and be smart and impactful but they only pigeon hole people into a complete minority of a few people that no one wants to be. I was a listener but this just re-inforces why I, and all of my friends, no longer and will never again listen to MMM. Goodbye
Its a pretty good ad. MG is a fkn champ, and it speaks a lot about him this ad. Sometimes even thought ad agencies are full of weak men, the general public of man doesnt mind having a refresher on some reasons why being a guy is great.
Sounds like Sam has some sand in his va-jayjay
@nickatnights, I salute you. The fake laugh at everything is what makes me switch off my radio.
Hey, Wil Anderson has made an entire career out of filling the silence after his ‘gags’ with ‘fake laugh’. So be careful what you say!
Do you like Hugh Jackman, talking about your friendship with Hugh Jackman, doing stuff with Hugh Jackman, referring to your amazing matey matey mateness with Hugh Jackman and basically anything to do with Hugh Jackman. Then listen to the Grill Team. Did I mention Hugh Jackman ?
@ Jimmy Franco….he had a little article in the papers on the weekend, a PR bit and who did he mention? Yep, Hugh
