Triple M teams up with Slash to revamp classic theme song
Austereo’s Triple M has enlisted former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash to re-record the theme song used by the radio station throughout the eighties and nineties as part of its 30th anniversary celebrations.
The song, called “Dr Dan” will also see the revamp and return of its old logo which features Dr Dan as the image of a manlike figure with wings playing a guitar.

I thought abandoning Dr Dan for Wella Man was a huge mistake back in the mid 90s. It’s only taken 15 years for them to recognise the mistake. Will the station grow some balls to match or wallow in more soft cock mediocrity?
The real question is this: can Triple take back the rock heritage that they have almost entirely destroyed by programming according to song research, rather than catering to core fans. It’s taken a shift to Classic rock by a competitor to wake the Ms out of their rock slumber.
Will they cave in to which songs are testing well? I remember “long blocks” and “no rap crap” worked well until eminem started testing through the roof.

Triple M will be hoping Slash has more impact than he did on MTV Classic Launch. The debut airing had an average audience of 391. And that’s not thousands.

There is nothing like the first original 1980-81″Triple MMM Dr Dan” theme TV Commercial and Music… I think the original is the best and always will be. I’m sure Slash will do a fantastic job at revamping this classic piece and I hope it is a success for the Ms.
