The Block Glasshouse wins night thanks to simulcast as One ties with ABC for share
The Block was the highest rating program of Sunday night with a metro audience of 1.374m, however the result was boosted by the network’s decision to simulcast the renovation show across its multi-channel Go and Gem.
The decision to “roadblock” the program helped Nine ensure it won the 6.30pm slot against Seven’s X Factor which had an audience of 1.14m, but it should be noted that Oztam does not provide a channel by channel breakdown giving only on number for all three channels.
Ten Masterchef in the 7.30pm slot drew 1.261m ahead of tonight’s final, which will see Brent Owens and Laura Cassai face off for this year’s crown, acording to the OzTam Overnight Premliminary Metro Ratings
In the news stakes Nine News had 1.289m compared with 1.159m for Seven News. But it was the performance of The Block, along with a late 60 minutes, which was screened at 9pm and drew 985,000, and The Voice Kids which recovered somewhat from a weak mid week performance of 806,000 with 933,000 viewers all helped to give Nine the highest audience share of the night with 19.8 per cent on its main channel.
1 THE BLOCK GLASSHOUSE -LAUNCH Network 9 1,374,000
414 THE BLOCK GLASSHOUSE -SIMULCAST Network GO! 4,000
418 THE BLOCK GLASSHOUSE -SIMULCAST Network Gem 3,000
Well done Ten. Maybe that One Sport Strategy was not a bad idea after all !!
Wasn’t the idea of the new digital channels supposed to be to provide diversity? Thanks Nine/Go/Gem … yet another reason not to watch you or any other free to air commercial television for that matter. Like Bruce Springsteen said … 57 channels and nothing on.
