TV revenues down across the board
Advertising revenues for the free TV networks are down virtually cross the board, the latest set of data from industry body Free TV indicates.
According to the data, collated but not audited by KMPG, every single metro market was down in the final six months of 2011, compared to the same period in 2010.
Revenue was also down in every regional area of the country with the exception of South Australia.
The worst performer was the Sydney market – down by just over 7%.
No wonder revenue is down. No-one watches TV any more. Everyone’s either online or not home.
Or if they’ve got the TV on, they’re either drunk or channel surfing during the ads.
And if they’re not channel surfing during the ads, that means they can’t move. And if they can’t move, that means they’re ninety-five year old patients with dementia in a nursing home – and that dribble running down their chin onto their laps isn’t because they’re salivating at the instant soup commercial, it’s because they can’t help it.
“Everyone’s either online or not home. ”
You’re a fool Paul. What rubbish.
In regional markets total commercial FTA viewing was up by 11.5% YOY. Total FTA viewing inc ABC/SBS was up by 8.6%. So yeah, like no-one’s watching TV anymore.
stick to freelance writing buddy – TV viewership is up across the board…
and the quality of advertising on commercial TV is so poor, it’s a disincentive to watch in itself.
who are the muppets buying life and funeral insurance that are funding this plague of god-awful advertisements?
Confirming what I said, 2 and 4.
Plenty of eyes watching on the box, but not the ones that buy the soup.
The audience may as well include the budgie in the standard cage behind the couch and the cat asleep on the rug.
Confirming what I said Paul – stick to freelance writing buddy. Alternatively, put some metrics behind your contention and prove your point.
I’m pretty sure GB’s buy soup – they’re up 5.3% YOY too!
