We Are Very Fond Of Using Jargon
Dr Mumbo has a theory about this job ad/ blog posting from We Are Social:

Dr Mumbo’s theory is this:
Being a social media agency, they realise that people will make fun of them for using wanky new media cliches such as:
RE: Cross-modal in experience
I think they mean someone who has worked across varies roles/industries to put together their current vocational toolbox. Someone who knows two things which they can do at once.
I think that ad got the critique it deserved…. LOL
9/10 – funny stuff
I think it means “is on Facebook and Twitter.”
Hi Dr. Mumbo,
Thanks for the LOLs.
We all know that have their own editorial approach – it’s what makes them worth reading in the first place! That’s reflected in the way we write on ours, and we get a lot of great feedback not only on the style of our posts, but also in the breadth and depth of information we provide. The blog version of the job ad seems to be working fine, because we’ve got dozens of applications through in less than 24 hours.
That said, if you’d prefer the less-jargony and to-the-point version in a conventional bulletin-board environment, you can reference the job ad we posted on Mumbrella on Wednesday evening: https://staging.mumbrella.com.au/jobs?job_id=5733 (before we actually wrote a post about it in our own space).

PS: Since this post made your newsletter today, let Sean know we don’t need those ad rates we requested – we’ll spend it at the pub instead.
Sometimes I’ll walk to work, sometimes I catch the tram. It’s a cross-modal experience, but I like it.
@ heather ann snodgrass nice reply – touche
Nice reply Heather
Heather, what happens if you want to attract talented, straight to the point communicators? I was put off by the ad because I thought the job might be a wank.
“You’ve written something bad about us so we’re pulling our advertising.”
Way to go, Heather
wanted: literate, numerate person with twitter and facebook account. blog a bonus
@eLiza – if you are that person, then obviously we’d love to meet you 🙂
@anonymous – it wasn’t actually us “pulling” our ads, more of us not needing to buy newsletter space to promote an ad, as obviously it’s already in there…i guess you missed the context there.
@jonathon: you’d be surprised at the amount of people who don’t meet that very basic criteria…
Snodgrass! There’s a name.
Cheers, Heather but I’m actually founding my own social network 🙂
What are you paying?
