Woolworths launches first Christmas ad of the year: The Ham King
Woolworth’s has begun its Christmas push, featuring a comical father and son bantering over the best way to cook a ham.
“The Ham King” sees the son preparing his first Christmas ham in the shadow of his father, who has previously won prizes for his efforts.
Ad agency Droga5 relaunched Woolworths advertising in June.
The new ad:
Why does the ‘son’ have a Kiwi accent? Like the spot overall, I’m just confused by the “Yeah it’s a bug stip” dialogue.
nice … reveals how campaignable the woolies stuff is.
Why are we pisstaking the average australian ?
and why the kiwi accent ?
I’ve always dreamed my Christmas was a Myer commercial. Everyone attractive and being polite with Jennifer Hawkins sitting at the head of the table in a white frock. Why is my Christmas full of drunk, obnoxious and ugly people?
Woolworths has now taken down this ad from its YouTube channel.
I understand that it was mistakenly posted this morning, and that the ad goes to air on Sunday.
Cheers,

Why does this only happen with D5’s work……… And when it’s bad??
Isn’t it still almost 2 months before Christmas? Seems a bit early to think about it now.
Curious. Anyone notice the lamb/sheep baaaaaaaaa noise in the first 10 seconds. A little bit of a random sound effect for a Ham ad.
I mustn’t have been concentrating too hard while watching this because I thought the two guys were representing a gay couple.
