WPP retires Hogarth brand after 18 years
Soon-to-be CEO of WPP Production, Richard Glasson
WPP has retired its global creative production agency, Hogarth, after 18 years of operation, launching a new streamlined unit, WPP Production.
Founded in London in 2008, Hogarth has served as the primary production arm for WPP’s creative agencies since 2009, when it formed a joint venture with the global holding company.
The Hogarth brand will officially cease to exist on 23 February, replaced by WPP Production.
According to a WPP announcement released overnight, WPP Production will operate as a “single global platform,” moving producers into a unified team.
It’s hard to avoid the impression that these name changes are being used to conveniently justify redundancies. Speaking from first hand experience, over a fairly long agency career – with much of it being moved to India.
