You can’t spell trial without ‘I’

Meet the journo who reckons he’s the mushroom murderer’s ‘last sad victim’.

Regular readers might not be aware of this, but in Victoria, they’ve been having a little thing called a mushroom murder trial.

And after ten weeks of being limited to writing only what was said in front of the jury, the journos have been let off the leash now it’s official that Erin Patterson dunnit.

Daily Mail Australia’s Melbourne correspondent Wayne Flower had a unique take on who the real victim of the case is. It’s him.

The prolific Flower’s byline appears on no fewer than eight articles published yesterday by The Daily Mail.

And in one epic 3,956-word behind-the-scenes take on the trial, Flower concludes by informing readers that he is Patterson’s final victim:

“I bought multi-vitamins and fish oil in the hope of pushing through a little longer.

“At home, a long way away, my life and family were imploding.

“The grind and my absence had made my partner of 24 years – the mother of my two children – come to realise she no longer needed me in her life.

“Days after my 50th birthday, for which she had organised a surprise party with all my friends and family in attendance, she told me she no longer loved me and I was discarded like yesterday’s newspaper.

“But the trial went on and so did I. Perhaps the last sad victim of Erin Patterson.”

That’s certainly one way of looking at things.
