2DayFM quietly removes Mel B from websites as star’s stint on breakfast ends
Former Spice Girl Melanie Brown has been quietly removed from all the marketing materials for 2DayFM today as her stint as a host has come to an end.
It leaves a trio of Sophie Monk, Merrick Watts and Jules Lund to front the Sydney breakfast show, which has tumbled to the bottom of the commercial radio ratings since the departure of Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson last December, with an audience share of 3.6 per cent at the last survey.
Brown was a surprise addition to the lineup when she was announced as a “guest host” for the show, and has been doing regular segments with the studio hosts from various overseas locations since it kicked off in January.
At the time of the launch of the show 2DayFM made a series of promotional videos, including one unveiling Brown as the guest host. However that has now been pulled down from YouTube, and all promotional pictures featuring her have been taken off the site’s Facebook page and website.
Never understood the appeal of Mel B. She might be cute with that Yorkshire accent, but her entire main claim to fame before coming to Australia is being a ‘scary spice’ in a manufactured pop group. Radio and television here can surely do better.
It’s like something out of ‘1984’, or a time-=travel sci-fi movie – MelB is being erased from the history of 2Day FM!
I think she lives a transcient life with young kids and is hugely talented .She can pick and choose. That radio show is not for her .Shes a huge talent and can get work on three continents. Not only that Im sure she and her husband have many ideas and posdibly businesses they could do in the future.I think she has alot of intelligence to move forward and explore new territories.I wish her family well.It can t be easy with all the moving they have had to do for visa requirements .She has reinvented herself I dont see her as spice any more but a mature woman with alot to give.
Grace I also think it must be stressful for Mel B to be moving all the time in regards to her visa requirements. All that first class travel and 5 star hotels would be exhausting. Let alone have to pretend that its 6am when in LA it is really 8 o’clock at night. And then to realise that more people are listening to Radio National than your own intelligent comments.
Could I suggest Rick Astley as a replacement for Mel B. He is also a singer from the UK who had a few No.1 hits many decades ago.
What’s Doug Mulray doing?
How about Jamie Redfern, Debbie Byrne, Joey Peronne and Sally Boyden for a new cutting edge line up?
