AAMI proud of its not very ‘insurancey’ business

Chasing the phenomenal success of its Rhonda and Ketut ads, insurance company AAMI has opted for a new television ad campaign featuring flying call centre girls and stampeding ostriches.

Created by Ogilvy Melbourne and set to the tune of Danke Schoen the AAMI girls are seen manning a high tech command station and then heading out into the world to help customers with their car, home and travel insurance
The ad continues with the Lucky You’re With AAMI tagline and adds “An Insurance Company That’s Not Very Insurancey”.
The ad begins cut scene of an AAMI girl arriving in a road side assistance van makes perfect but things become more surreal, with AAMI staff warding off ostriches andfour AAMI girls drop from the sky to document the crash site with their phones.
AAMI has a reputation for good at storytelling, most successfully with it’s Rhonda and Ketut love story series promoting safe driver rewards.

i won’t lie i love this
Was ok, alot of the comping and vfx were pretty avaerage though.
Not memorable at all like Rhonda and Ketut
Maybe focus on your policy rather than pointless advertising. I just went to renew my house insurance, and Aami said…’ do you have a common wall’ ( we live in a semi) I said yes. Aami said sorry we can’t insure you. I said but I’ve been with aami for 5 years, they said sorry you have to go elsewhere. Apparently policy changed to not insuring any property semi/terrace/townhouse with a common wall.
Hello morons, that’s half of Sydney!
If they were any good they would not need to waste there money on pointless garbage advertising like this.
Hang on I just watched it again, it’s shit. A guy in front of camera with some graphics would have got the message across faster, clearer and cheaper.
I cannot believe people are still spending $$$$$$$$$$$$ on tv advertising, oh thats right, I forgot most of the population is +40…..
Good to see a genuinely huge ad out there in the marketplace. I like it! A lot! Lots of laughs in our house. Great track too
Fun, cheerful, positive, memorable.
Can’t ask for much more really… And forget about Rhonda and Ketut, they are gone.
This is a good ad, and AAMI has a reputation for being easy to deal with unlike some low rent insurance companies aligned to major retailers
No doubt Anonymous works for AAMI or Ogilvy
I’ll let you in on a little secret-so does Ann.Shhh ..don’t tell any one.
I find the ads sexist 😉
I love – just a bit of fun.
Very sexist. How come all the people doing stuff that need insuring are men, and the all the people doing the service call centre stuff are women? Very disappointing after some great ads from the past.
I’m sure the ‘AAMI girls’ are all over 18. What is this? A Robert Palmer video? And your article is no better. I’m with AAMI and my premium is due. Time to do some online research.
I had a chortle this morning when my daughter commented that she thought the ad was stupid because “if you want an insurance company why would you get one that wasn’t insurancey?” Valiant effort by AAMI to convey a ‘we aren’t all a bunch of bureaucratic suits” but they clearly haven’t nailed it …
Revolting ad that makes me change the channel. Women scuttling like cockroaches to their desks – really??? Only women in call centres? Women being used like puppets on a string – another joke???? This isn’t in the style of Madmen – it’s just misogynistic garbage. It’s 2015 and this ad just personifies what men in advertising think women do or should do.
I find it funny how people read too much into ads, it’s a nice idea, well executed. As I was watching I was thinking, eek think of the people complaining about the ‘sexist’ element, but the reality it’s attention grabbing and I think it will have great brand engagement.
Advertisers shouldn’t be afraid to take risks doing fun ads like this – being PC creates too much boring content.
Why do aami say “that’s not very insurancie? I dont get it please explain why its said. Thank you
