Bastion appoints marketing manager

Bastion has appointed a new marketing manager, which “signals a new chapter” in the agency’s story.

Madeleine Leonard joins the agency from Dentsu, where she spent nearly four years. She played a pivotal role in driving internal and external comms for the holdco, managing executive operations, and delivering large-scale strategic employee initiatives across multi-market teams.

She brings experience across strategic comms, senior stakeholder engagement, and integrated marketing to the new role.

At Bastion, Leonard will be responsible for the agency’s marketing strategy, including leading initiatives that elevate brand visibility, aiming to strengthen its market position, and supporting business development.

“I’ve long admired Bastion’s bold ambition to put brands, organisations and people in a position of strength, constantly looking for ways to solve challenging client problems,” Leonard said in a media release on Thursday.

“Joining a business that values client centricity, creativity, agility and people so highly is energising, and I look forward to helping drive the next chapter of growth.”

She will report to Bastion ANZ’s CEO, Cheuk Chiang, who joined the agency last year, also from Dentsu. With him and the wider agency leadership team, Leonard will align its marketing efforts with commercial goals across clients.

Bastion is also committed to building a “best-in-class” marketing function that “mirrors the strength” of its client offering.

“Madeleine’s appointment signals a new chapter in how we tell our story,” Chiang said in the release.

“Her breadth of experience from integrated marketing and executive alignment to internal engagement and communications makes her a powerful asset as we sharpen our focus on sales and marketing to fuel our next phase of growth.”
