BMF crowned creative agency partner for Westpac

Banking giant Westpac has named BMF as its strategic creative and brand agency.

The appointment was announced by Westpac on Friday afternoon. Carolyn McCann — group executive, customer and corporate services at Westpac — explained that BMF was chosen for the role because of the agency’s creativity, and strategy-centric thinking.

“We are thrilled to welcome BMF to the Westpac family,” McCann said.

“Their innovative approach and proven track record in delivering impactful campaigns for clients aligns perfectly with our vision for the future.

“We look forward to collaborating with BMF to elevate our brand and engage with our customers in new and exciting ways.”

The agency’s chief executive officer, Stephen McArdle, conveyed the BMF team’s excitement at the new partnership.

“We are incredibly excited to be working with Westpac, bringing our strategic and creative expertise to life for one of Australia’s most iconic brands and companies,” McArdle said.

“We can’t wait to work in partnership with the Westpac team to realise their ambitions around customer engagement and growth.”

BMF’s appointment comes in the wake of Westpac and creative agency, DDB Sydney, confirming that they would part ways this month, after the banking organisation took its creative account to review in September 2024.

The DDB Sydney-Westpac partnership lasted more than a decade.

“We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to DDB for their 13 years of partnership and invaluable contribution to our brand,” McCann added.

The addition of Westpac to BMF’s client portfolio succeeds the news that BMF was reappointed as the lead creative agency of Tourism Tasmania. First securing its account in March 2019, BMF would go on to help develop and launch the tourism body’s ‘Come down for air’ platform, alongside Clemenger BBDO Sydney, in October that year.

Westpac will kickstart its work with BMF in the next few weeks.
