CommBank releases online video for ‘future of banking’ flagship store
CommBank has released an online video to promote its high-tech concept store dubbed “the future of banking”.
The video, which was made by digital shop The White Agency, will run on CommBank’s YouTube channel as well as a CommBank microsite.
Andrew Murrell, CommBank’s general manager, digital and social marketing, told Mumbrella: “Our large network of branches is, of course, important. But so is technology in how customers bank with us. Our flagship brand is a look toward the future of banking.”
He added: “Online videos like this have a big future in engaging with our customers.”
The future of banking = OTT fit out…..
Who’d of thunk it?
Kenny Craig would be impressed.
Look, I rarely make a positive comment in this forum, but this story gives me the opportunity simply to say that I love CommBank’s tech and service stack. I use online, mobile and retail services, and without exception, it’s the best banking experience I have ever had. I run multiple accounts across superannuation, CommSec, term deposits, savings etc. so self-management is critical. So long as this platform grows through innovation, I will never leave this bank.
Now if only they can solve having to wait in line
consumers have ‘wised up’ since the GFC and there is now a fine line between being innovative and over-the-top.
personally if i was banking with the CBA i’d be wondering why they need to have someone greeting me at the door with an ipad when they could otherwise be giving me back some of the out-of-sequence interest rate rises they’re oh-so-quick to pass on.
fail.
Less touch-screen & coffee machine and more interest-rate cuts please.
any bank that tries to do everything for everyone will go bankrupt. They lose sight of service and product.
but anyway, Comm bank’s heavy exposure to residential mortgages (which does not grow the economy by the way) will mean significant writedown, collapse in share price, and massive capital raising, and possible corporate insolvency.
this kind of store will be a one-off or just a dream.
@Market Maker – did you buy your commerce degree on Nigerian website?
who directed it?
I am not too sure about the future of banking. As a customer I preferred the banking of yesteryear when the Commonwealth Bank’s interest rate rises where in line with those of the RBA.
I didn’t know Ron Johnson was working for the Commonwealth Bank now?
Who directed it? Comm Bank of course. Its a client ad because someone thought lets show we’re the bank of the future and consumers will be dazzled by this high tech, leading edge bank provider image and positioning, and forget all about how Ralph Norris, our ex-CEO, screwed CBA’s, and all other banks customers by raising interest rates on the first Tuesday in November 2010, when the Reserve Bank didn’t.
Consumers see through this crap. They want a bank that offers something, well, that they can take to the bank. Like a fair interest rate on their mortgage or deposits. That’s what a bank with half a brain would stick into their market mix and then promote it in a compelling execution. At least they didn’t give the brief to Goodby’s.
…”solve a need”? Strange use of language; shouldve been “meets your needs”.
I found the editing if the advertisement quite unbalanced and monotonous, luckily for them they didn’t apply this strategy to mass media.
@Richard Dirth – best put down of the week (re: Market Maker). Loving your work.
@Richard Dirth Hilarious. There’s a few lunatics out there with dunny paper degrees.
Worst promo video ever seen. Spend a little more in advertising. You certainly can afford it.
