DDB Sydney and McDonald’s Australia chronicle baristas’ Paralympic journeys in new social series

McDonald’s Australia is set to launch the last installment of its ‘Takeaway Baristas’ content series, via DDB Sydney.

‘Takeaway Baristas’ is a “three-part social content series for McCafé” developed as a part of the company’s Paralympic campaign. It follows four McCafé baristas and their experiences in providing Australia’s para-athletes with the best coffee amidst the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

In addition to the baristas, the series features prolific para-athletes: Ameera Lee, Tristan Knowles, Michael Roeger and Don Elgin.

The series will launch in market from August 15 to September 15 on 9Now, Meta, TikTok and YouTube.

“Us Aussies can barely function without a high-quality cup. So when we found out McCafé was heading to Paris to make coffee for our Paralympians, we couldn’t wait to tell their story,” said Sam Raftl and Tom Lawrence, associate creative directors at DDB Sydney.

“Partnering with Paralympics Australia to support our amazing para-athletes has been a huge highlight for us this year,” added Amanda Nakad, marketing director at McDonald’s Australia.

Nakad continued: “Whilst we can’t take any credit for their amazing success, the series is a light-hearted, feel-good moment to show just how far we go at McCafé to make sure our athletes and their families get the same great-quality, barista made coffee they’re used to at home.”

Apart from leveraging social channels, the campaign “was supported by a national press office profiling the baristas and their own journey.”
