Dentsu Aegis Network appoints Sue Squillace as CEO of Carat
Spark Foundry’s CEO Sue Squillace is set to jump ship from the Publicis Groupe for Dentsu Aegis Network’s Carat.
Squillace will fill the CEO void at Carat, which was left vacant in September last year when Paul Brooks resigned.
Following Brooks’ departure, Carat said the CEO role would not be immediately replaced, with the agency instead promoting DAN’s chief client solutions officer, Simon Williams, into the role of national managing director.
Where does that leave Simon Williams? Does he stay on as National MD?
Hi ‘question’,
I had asked the same thing of DAN, who have now confirmed Simon Williams is staying on as national MD, reporting to Sue Squillace.
I have updated the story to reflect this information.
Thanks,
Vivienne – Mumbrella
Congratulations Sue. Great appointment who I’m sure will bring much success to Carat and its people. Well done!
Huge appointment! Some very bold and positive changes happening at DAN. Go Henry!!
This is an excellent appointment for Carat. Sue is one of the best in the business, and was the shining light within Publicis.
Well done Sue!!!
Couldn’t agree more! Exciting times at DAN
Safe to assume then that their punt to put Simon into the MD role did not really work out as intended and they are calling in the reinforcement?
Well done Sue – back to the future to be working at Carat again
Congratulations Sue. Wondering who and what functions report to CEO vs. National Managing Director?
Congratulations Sue.
Congratulations Sue proud to have you as a daughter-in law and wish all the best in your new job. XX
Congratulations Sue proud to have you as a daughter-in law and wish you nothing but all great things in your new job.
Probably more a case of Tajer being handed aggressive KPIs, seeing the writing on the wall and taking drastic action in an attempt to correct course by hiring an external with runs on the board.
I don’t think Williams looks bad here in light of Carat’s trajectory which happened before he took on the role.
Carat is on a downward spiral anyway. None of this matters.
A great win for DAN and a huge loss for PM…
Sue is one of the best in the business, great appointment for the staff and clients of Carat. No BS approach which clearly her clients, staff and now Henry see value in. Well done!
By all accounts Sue is the real deal – something that is desperately needed at Carat. Great to see HT working to restore Carat to a reputable brand after recent damage. It will take some time – the losses (both client and talent) were significant under previous DAN leadership. Williams is a nice bloke, and a decent salesman, but seems to be more interested in his own career than building a brand, collaborating or looking out for his people. He also was heavily involved in all the pitches Carat lost over the past two years, so wouldn’t give him a clean bill of health on that front. Hopefully Carat will be able to attract back some of the talent they’ve squandered and get back to delivering great results for their clients!
