Dynamic Duos: Getting the band back together
In this week’s Dynamic Duos, we hear from Yango’s GM of growth, Amy Carr, and GM of strategy, culture and insights, Eb Yusuf.

In Dynamic Duos, Mumbrella each week asks two colleagues with a professional and personal affiliation to share with readers the importance of workplace relationships in an increasingly hybridised world of work.
Amy Carr:
We started working together 20 years ago at Carat. It was Eb’s first job working in media and I was Client Service Manager. Last year, we got the band back together when I joined Yango as General Manager – Growth and we have slipped straight back into old habits, which has been so enjoyable, from both a personal and professional point of view.
You know, when Eb and I really started working closely together all those years ago, it just clicked. There’s a chemistry there that’s hard to put into words, but it just works. Now at Yango, my role is all about making things happen, taking the vision and meticulously turning it into a successful campaign that delivers results for our clients. I’m thinking about the ‘how’. How do we build trust, how do we deliver flawlessly, how do we keep our clients not just happy, but truly thriving.
Eb, though, she brings the strategic fireworks. She’s got this incredible ability to see around corners, to understand what makes consumers tick and how pop culture can be leveraged. When she comes to me with these brilliant, sometimes audacious ideas, that’s where the magic starts. My job is to take that brilliance and help shape it into something actionable, something that doesn’t just sound great but can actually be executed flawlessly. She stretches our thinking, and I make sure that bold thinking is built on rock-solid foundations. We push each other, and it means our clients get both groundbreaking strategy and meticulous execution.
But it’s more than just the work. We both genuinely care about the people here at Yango. We both believe in fostering a place where everyone feels supported, can learn, grow, and truly loves what they do. When our people are thriving, that energy permeates everything – especially the work we do for our clients. It’s a shared belief that makes our partnership, and Yango itself, so strong.
Eb Yusuf:
Simply put, Amy makes things happen. She has the unique ability to take a seed of an idea and build it into a functioning reality. As someone who thrives on ideation, I find her practical skills and proactive approach to be the perfect complement to my own.
Amy possesses an innate talent for client relations and stakeholder management. While my strategic role has traditionally been less focused on these interactions, they’ve become increasingly important as I’ve progressed in my career. Amy has been an invaluable mentor in this area, consistently providing a trusted space for me to pressure-test ideas, navigate difficult conversations, and refine my communications. She empowers me with both her expert advice and her confidence-building support.
We actually first worked together at Carat back in 2003. It was my first job in the industry and maybe Amy’s second. We kept in touch over the years but were reunited at Yango at the end of 2024. When we got together again, things just clicked into place, we were able to hit the ground running, playing to each other’s strengths and as a result, we have seen record growth for the agency over these past eight months.
What we have found, is that beyond the client work, what truly binds us is our shared passion for the people at Yango. We’re both incredibly committed to nurturing an environment where everyone feels supported and can truly grow. It’s not just about hitting targets; it’s about nurturing careers and building a strong, supportive community. That shared value makes our partnership, and everything we do at Yango, feel incredibly meaningful.
Amy on Eb:
Most memorable moment with Eb: Yango’s first industry award win in early-2025 for client BYD! Yango has always been a quiet achiever; it was the first time Yango’s work had had industry recognition. Eb and I worked really hard on the entry, we wanted to make sure everyone’s hard work was well represented.
We both burst into tear of happiness…multiple times over the evening!
Best word to describe her: Passionate and driven…I know it’s two, but I can’t possibly choose.
Most annoying habit or endearing behaviour she has: Eb is 100% committed to ensuring Yango is the best indie in Australia.
Using data and creativity she delivers our clients unique work that is genuinely created to achieve their goals.
This benefits not only our clients, but our people as well. It creates an environment of measured creativity that everyone can be part of.
Eb on Amy:
Most memorable moment with Amy: Amy and I are unabashedly passionate about what we do – and yes, we’re the ones who get misty-eyed when something great happens. It could be winning an award, welcoming a new client, or watching someone on our team absolutely crush a goal. I’ll never forget the first time it happened, winning Yango’s very first media award for BYD earlier this year. I’m proud to say there have been many happy tears since.
Best word to describe her: Anchor – she is the person I can count on for steady, sensible guidance and unwavering support.
Most annoying habit or endearing behaviour she has: What I admire most about Amy is her candour, which is grounded in the mutual trust we share. She is one of the few people who will challenge my work – always constructively and respectfully – and I genuinely welcome it, knowing it comes from a shared desire to make our work exceptional.
