Foster’s makes the sun shine on the whole world. Literally
It’s somewhat naive, I realise, to expect realism in advertising.
And I do rather like this take on laid back Aussies for Foster’s which broke in the UK this morning.
But there is just one small thing. According to the ad (from new Foster’s agency Adam & Eve), it’s daytime in Southend, yet it’s also daytime in Australia.
And THAT is the magic of advertising.

8:30AM in UK, 4:30PM in WA?
Intriguing point, John B. Now you come to mention it, I can glimpse some toast on the table at the 34s mark…
Cheers,

Nice. But it kind of falls apart with the ‘Brewed in the UK’ line at the bottom, doesn’t it?
Forgive me for appearing dumb. I didn’t get it. What’s a Scotch egg? What’s a vaudemann? Why was there no surf? What was that woman doing with that large fish? Why do we get hairy ears? I think I need a drink…
And what true blue Aussie their age (apart from those in Shepherd’s Bush) actually knows what a scotch egg is?
Haha Keith – you mean Carol Vorderman of course – a household name in Australia!

nah, not for me
Is that our Becks from the Ant and Beck’s Mix radio show? go boy!
Brilliant stuff – right on point for the UK market. Made this Scot laugh.
Wow, they really are pitching to a foreign audience. None of those things made any sense to me. Who was that woman in teh poster? Ray Romano’s wife from Everybody Loves Raymond??!
mmmm… Scotch Egg…
Timbo, I think you’re missing home more than you let on. Now would be a great time to go what with the recession and England getting humiliated in the world cup ‘n all.
PS Great ad!
I think it is average. The benchmark for beer advertising is pretty high now.
