Did your Google ranking change overnight?
Google has rolled out its new algorithm Google Penguin 4.0. Michael Jenkins explains how these changes will affect your website and what you can do to avoid being penalised.
It’s been a two-year wait for SEO tragics – Google’s anticipated Penguin 4.0 started rolling out over the weekend and while it’s too soon to see the full impact here’s what you need to know.

What is Google Penguin?
In a nutshell Penguin is the name for a Google algorithm designed to catch websites that are spamming search results. The first iteration launched in 2012, the last update to the algorithm was in 2014 and now Penguin 4.0 landed on the weekend.
Thanks. It’s hard enough for small businesses to get found so any thing that helps is good. We always use good business directories so hopefully these citations will be useful.
I think that the Pros for the real time Penguin 4.0 release must outnumber the Cons. SEO experts will see the results of their work in no time.
Hey Michael,
Thanks for the informative article, I have seen the changes but not after the penguin update, in the September starting my articles took a great boost for all of my sites but in mid September (14-15th Sept) all of them dropped drastically, since then it’s the same, no changes.
Hope to see positive changes when the Penguin rolls out completely and crawls the site.
Thanks,
Karan
what will be good strategies for small businesses ?
I am seeing massive changes in the SERP in some keywords but in some keywords things have not changed much and the SERP is in a state of flux all the time. It just keeps on changing every few hours.
