May 12, 2011 –
Australian-based Group Buying Platform, OfferMe, today launched MeStore their virtual shopping centre platform in a move that is expected to change the face of group buying and online retail in Australia.
The new model enables individual businesses or sellers as they are known, to offer consumers big discount group buy deals via the OfferMe site. Plus set up and open their own personalized online shop front in the OfferMe virtual shopping centre. The MeStore services features full e-commerce and “Buy Now” functionality and enables retailers to promote and sell the full range of their goods and services for as little as $30 per month.
“Sixty percent of our existing online sellers are joining our virtual shopping centre which will carry approximately 50,000 products at launch and then grow to over 200,000 products within the next year,” said Mr. James Wang, Managing Director of OfferMe.
A number of large niche product retailers have already signed with OfferMe for launch, including Australia-based bikes retailer CellBikes and Asia’s No. 1 musical instruments retailer Parsons Music.
“Helping niche product retailers to grab a bigger share of the online market is our strength,” said Mr.Wang.
“Unlike the traditional group buy, Groupon model where you usually have one main deal a day, in the OfferMe virtual shopping centre you can access dozens of deals every day plus loads of other discounts on products from across all of our retailers,” Mr. Wang said. “This is a different way of doing business which will ultimately deliver consumers the widest range of products at fantastic group buy prices.”
Offerme.com.au, one of Australia’s earliest group buying sites was launched in 2008 and specialises in delivering a broad range of merchandise including electronics, computers, bike accessories, musical instruments, sporting goods, computer accessories, toys, homewares, and event tickets.
More niche product retailers are expected to join the OfferMe virtual shopping centre in the coming months as the benefits of group marketing and consumer demand drives returns. The company is focused on becoming one of the largest online shopping centres in the country and has plans for international expansion over the coming year.
“We have proven to our sellers that we can deliver significant consumer traffic and convert that into real sales and this is what will continue to drive our business growth,” Mr. Wang said.
“We are really proud of the MeStore service and what it offers both sellers and buyers alike.”
