Guzman y Gomez global CMO Lara Thom resigns
Lara Thom has left GYG after close to a decade with the Aussie company
Lara Thom, the global chief marketing officer of Australian success story Guzman y Gomez, has resigned after spending the past decade helping to build the Sydney-born fast food brand into a juggernaut that operates over 200 outlets across four countries.
Thom will finish up on April 24, and will be succeeded by Claire West, who joined GYG as its director of marketing in February, after a five-year stint at the Woolworths Group, and a prior six-year period as marketing director for Westpac.
“Lara brought real energy and conviction to the GYG brand,” Steven Marks, founder and co-CEO of GYG said in a statement provided by Mumbrella.
“She cared deeply about doing it right, not just what looked good, but what actually connected with people. We’re grateful for everything she gave to GYG, and whatever comes next for her, I have no doubt it’ll be great.”
Marks said West will now step up to lead the company’s “broader marketing function”, working closely with director of communications, Alison Peake and GYG’s Australian and international teams to “provide the global marketing leadership GYG needs. I have full confidence in her and the team.”
