I’m a Celebrity draws 1.324m for 2016 season debut but is beaten by the men’s Australian Open final
Ten’s I’m a Celebrity last night drew 1.324m metropolitan viewers for the first episode of the 2016 season which saw the 12 celebrities, including cricketer Shane Warne, announced.
It was a result that was up on its 2015 debut, which drew 1.2m; however, Seven’s coverage of the men’s final of the Australian Open still drew the biggest audience of the night.

The announcement of Shane Warne on I’m a Celebrity drew 1.324m.
According to OzTAM preliminary ratings, 1.619m viewers tuned in to watch Novak Djokovic beat Andy Murray in straight sets to win his sixth Australian Open title.
Misleading headline to say “Shane Warne lifts Im a celebrity”. He hasnt entered the jungle yet and we only saw 30s of him.
Where are all the people slagging 10 for delaying X Files? That doesn’t seem like a normal number, it seems pretty big to me!
Piracy’s level of evil world domination may have been overstated somewhat.
Unfortunately I was sick yesterday and watched “I am not a celebrity and do not know most of the people on here…. please keep me on as long as possible for exposure.” The first 6 contestants did not know any of the others. Serious rethink is needed… especially one of the hosts on the show.
Not sure if anyone else noticed that the News website (and its affiliates) quickly pulled the reader comments section on the so called ‘celebrities’. The majority of the comments were less the flattering.
Anyone care to clarify?
Have no respect or patience for Shane Warne, not sure if i will watch the show, altjough i love Chief. The solution may be to switch channels when Warne is on screen.
seems to me that the viewing audience was on the ball, or perhaps driven by the balls.
Two men stacking numbers by whacking them with rackets, drew the most attention, then some celebrity racket intended to draw numbers, featuring, at great expense, some guy who used to throw one, came in second.
I think it will prove to be much ado about nothing, but at least we have been Warned.
