Julia Gillard and Tony Abbott kiss above Parliament House in MLA balloon stunt
Hot air balloons that take the shape of Australia’s top two opposing politicians are the centrepiece of a stunt at Parliament House by Meat & Livestock Australia.
A video, uploaded on to YouTube, appears to show Prime Minister Julia Gillard and opposition leader Tony Abbott inflated as hot air balloons by a team of barbecue chefs on the lawn of the government building in Canberra.
The agency behind the campaign was BMF, which has yet to reveal which parts of the stunt are real and which are computer generated.
The final moment of the video, in which the balloon figures are united in a kiss, is reminiscent of Benetton’s ‘unhate’ campaign, which won the press grand prix at Cannes.
MLA’s Beefgiving campaign includes TV, print, outdoor and online, including activity on the Nothing Beats Beef Facebook page.
That’s awesome!
Boom!
Nice one MLA & BMF.
Good to see a bit of creativity and fun
Is it really that hard to work out what parts are computer generated? Awesome ad, anyway.
I’ll give you a tip – balloons (at the same altitude and location) travel with the wind so travel in the same direction.
Still … the load of hot air analogy is strong.
Millions of dollars spent promoting a product that’s bad for the health, terrible for the environment and catastrophic for the animals. No wonder MLA have plenty of hot air!
That’s what I call an agency resurrection.
LOVE!
Bad CGI. But I think this would have been underway well before the Cannes ad was awarded, unless they saw it prior to that.
