Maccas hits Tinder: ‘They didn’t respond to my message about wanting to eat their filet-o-fish’
Tinder users have been taken by surprise over the last 24-hours as an unlikely match popped up in their feeds – McDonald’s.
Maccas is asking people to swipe right to enter a competition to win a ‘luxe’ holiday to Thailand – which the Australian government recommends travellers exercise a ‘high degree of caution’ to travel to after this week’s bomb in Bangkok.
Reaction to the campaign so far on social media ranges from impressed to depressed at their best chance of finding love being with a fast food restaurant.
And of course it must now be open season on food-related entedres, so far led by one Reddit user pointed out: “They didn’t respond to my message about wanting to eat their filet-o-fish.”
Inevitably the messaging around the campaign is around matching ingredients – driving people to their Create Your Taste website.
For those of you not on Tinder fear not, you can still get your fix of the Maccas prize pool (and maybe that lucky trip to Thailand) here.
Typo, think you meant fear not dear.
Impressed.
Love it
Perhaps they should be on Grindr also!?
Even dating losers gotta eat!
Makes an unfortunate link between being single and being fat doesn’t it?
@anonymous.
My mind went to the link between fast, forgettable food and fast, forgettable fucks….
#disruptive
You would have to be desperate to hook up with McDonald’s. I do occasionally, when I have had a skin full and boy do I regret it the day after… I have to take a long hard look at myself and have about 10 showers and slowly I feel better about myself.
I saw this, went through the process, got the fries etc. Sure, it was disruptive but it felt like tinder marketing for the sake of it – was a little bit contrived. Not as natural a fit as other tinder campaigns like zombies in NZ.
